It seemed like the perfect combination—a great strategy board game based on the world of the greatest science fiction movie franchise of all time. The number or armies received depends on the type of set turned in. Ships in general are built using cards, and players can buy one ship each turn. If you had to watch anything animated that is related to Star Wars, then the Clone Wars series is certainly it.
The Republic player does not know which token represents which leader. While playing the version, the Republic armies and the Separatist armies have different card decks. If a player takes over an opposing army's territory, that player gets a card at the end of the turn. Monopoly Star Wars Saga Edition takes these powers and applies them as follows: Players can call upon the Force when they roll doubles at anytime during the game. Each zone contains a grouping of game squares which represent a planet in the Star Wars Universe. Once Order 66 is called, all Separatist tokens are removed from the game, and the Republic player can no longer capture them.
Some cards have a red colored background, which represent the Jedi. Meanwhile, capital ships let players roll 8-sided dice instead of 6-sided dice, thus providing advantage. It also has territories and continents, but set in space and are instead called planets and regions respectively, making it consistent with the Star Wars setting. Ships add another dimension of strategy in the game as their positioning can be a major factor in battle. The game is over if Republicans or Separatists gain control over all the planets.
Although the instructions remain the same, the artwork and the orders are written to suit the Star Wars style. However, the decision to call Order 66 must be made carefully.
